Chroma collaborators are industry-leading creative visionaries, prolific polymaths—and amazing humans. For the Lily of the Valley, Chroma tapped landscape architect Erica Timbrell and her husband, contractor Clayton Timbrell, generating a synergy that became as important as the project itself.

Clayton Timbrell is the founder and principal of Clayton Timbrell & Company, a San Francisco-based firm that specializes in residential construction and renovation. From a 10,000-square-foot Presidio Heights home to a William Turnbull house in the Sea Ranch, Clayton’s expertise in managing complex construction projects guides the company’s work at every scale. An extensive traveler, he re-energizes his own practice by experiencing thriving design and architecture communities around the world, with recent trips to Colombia, Japan, and Mexico. He is a native San Franciscan and a UC Berkeley alum, and remains committed to supporting education and mentorship in the Bay Area.

Erica Timbrell

Landscape architect and founder of Erica Timbrell Design

Erica Timbrell’s admiration for the landscape developed as a child growing up near the Florida Everglades and expanded during post-adolescent years spent in the Colorado Rockies and the Idaho Sawtooth Range, where lasting impressions took hold. In 2016, after working for her West Coast mentors Elizabeth Everdell and Scott Lewis, she founded Erica Timbrell Design, a landscape design studio based in San Francisco. Through an engaging and interpersonal design process, she translates her clients’ goals and aesthetics into visionary outdoor spaces that focus on the beauty and joy to be found in nature.
